Luciole

We're delighted to add our support to the Grow Your Own Potatoes initiative by providing Luciole seed potatoes for schools in the (Central) region.

Luciole is popular with many of our growers, and our customers. It's a gourmet Salad potato variety with a firm smooth texture and consistently excellent flavour. In the field it produces an abundance of small tubers – usually averaging 15 – 20 per plant.

Branston Potatoes are our business...

Branston Potatoes are our business...

...and they have been since we opened our doors way back in 1968. With sites in Lincoln, Scotland and the South West, we work with some of the country’s most progressive growers to make sure we always bring our customers Britain’s best potato crop.

About our Growers

Your Luciole seed potatoes have been grown by our loyal base of professional seed potato growers in Scotland. The variety was developed by Stet, Holland and is a cross between Monalisa and Exquisa.

We're one of the largest growers and suppliers of fresh potatoes in the UK and our experts certainly know their spuds. If your school needs any advice or support with Grow Your Own Potatoes, please do get in touch and we'll see if we can help.

Billy Branston's Bus

Billy Branston's Amazing Potato Factory

As well as helping schools with GYOP planting and harvesting, Branston also visits primary schools with Billy Branston's Amazing Potato Factory. It's a fully kitted-out double decker bus where children can learn all about potatoes and their fascinating journey from farm to fork.

  • How are they planted?
  • When are they harvested?
  • What happens in the potato factory?
  • Why are they so good to eat?

With hands-on activities tailored for KS1 and KS2, children will find out the answers to these questions and many more.

You can discover more about Billy Branston by visiting billybranston.com or by following on twitter @billybranston. If you'd like the Amazing Potato Factory to visit your school, please email billy@branston.co.uk.
