GYOP In The News
Participating schools all round the country have now planted their seed potatoes and have just 3 months to care for their plants before harvesting in June.
To kick start this years project and to mark the planting stage of GYOP 2010, Newbury District Agricultural Society (NDAS) invited schools from across West Berkshire to a special potato day. The Newbury Showground played host to over 150 children who took part in various activities including tasting potato products, cooking demonstrations, decorating potato cakes and the highlight of their day; planting their seed potatoes with the help of Gloucestershire grower Graham Nichols, local farmer Bob Winfield and joined by Peter Seabrook, gardening editor of The Sun newspaper
If you are the Education Officer at a showground and would like to discuss holding a similar event at your showground please contact Sue on 0247 6478 774 for more information.
