Norfolk Spring Fling - 5th April 2016

In conjunction with Greenvale this is always a really well attended event with arounNorfolk Spring Flingd 2000 children attending the unit in just one day. The show itself attracts in the region of 5000 visitors for a fun filled, educational day out to learn more about food, farming and the countryside. There were over 70 interactive stands and a variety of animals including cows, goats, owls, ponies and of course the dancing sheep in The Sheep Show! Children could take a journey around the Showground on a tractor ride and visit the Countryside Area to watch sheep dog demonstrations, sit on a vintage tractor and see birds of prey in action.

Countryside Lincs - 10th April 2016

Visit the Lincolnshire Showground on 10th April 2016 for a fun-filled and interactive

day all about food, farming and the countryside this Easter holiday. Meet producers, crafters, farmers and lots of animals all in one place, inspiring young mind all about Lincolnshire’s heritage. If you want to get involved see here for more details.

 

School Farm and Countryside Day Suffolk - 21st April 2016

School Farm & Country Fair
Around 50,000 children have attended this event at Suffolk Showground since 2001, which gives school pupils a day of food and farming discovery and hands-on opportunities to discover where their food comes from, see animals and machinery at work and gain some experience and knowledge of the countryside. This year live demonstrations include sheep shearing, ferret racing, gun dog displays and a re-enactment by the Museum of East Anglian Life, revealing how farming methods and machinery have changed over the years. Children can also participate in food sampling as well as enjoying a tractor trailer ride to the ancient woodland trail and wildlife area to dissect owl pellets! It promises to be a great day and we hope to see you there. 

Living Land, Kent - 5th May 2016

The Living Land is a well-established event, now in its 13th year and is hugely popular. The timetable of activities includes the opportunity to see and touch farm animals, taste local produce, see dancing sheep at the “Sheep Show”, Birds of Prey and many other displays and demonstrations. Most of the activities are interactive, with a wealth of organisations on hand to share their knowledge with the children and can easily be linked to the school curriculum.

The educational experience is invaluable and taking pupils away from the normal classroom environment, enhances the ability to learn.


BUAS Schools Countryside Day, Kelso - 17th May 2016

Over 50 exhibitors demonstrate working on a farm to over 1,300 primary aged children. At this event you can see sheepdogs, shearers, farriers and auctioneers at work, learned about making haggis and various farm animals from bantam hens to a Hereford Cow. Countryside Live, Ledston - 18th - 19th May 2016


Countryside LiveThe mission of Countryside Learning is a simple one. It is to educate, inform and inspire children, parents and teachers, so they can enjoy and appreciate the countryside while having a greater understanding of the wide range of issues surrounding it. Held at Ledston Estate, near Castleford in West Yorkshire, it’s a fun, educational school day out, with sheep shows, gun dog and falconry displays and a Shetland pony cavalcade!

Suffolk Show - 1st - 2nd June 2016

Levy payer event 

Suffolk ShowSuffolk Show is a full day out for the family, and a wonderful chance to see and touch so many farm animals and rare breeds, large and small, close up and in one place. There’s plenty more to see and do, including a stunt bike display, the Shetland Pony Grand National, a fairground and Sports Village, sheep shearing, local food and drink tasting and a Caribbean steel band! Potato grower Bruce Kerr will be manning the AHDB Potatoes stand for us, and will have lots of fun information on potatoes and how they grow.  

Open Farm Sunday, Tregennis Farm, St. Davids, Wales -5th June 2016

Run by LEAF, this year our promotional vehicle will be visiting a potato grower in Wales. Why not come along if you are in the area! Farms of every size and type are invited to open their gates to the public on Open Farm Sunday. It is up to the farmer to decide on the size and type of event to host, the key is to showcase the huge variety of farms producing great food with care for the countryside. This year we are working in association with 

Great Yorkshire Show Countryside Days- 14th - 15th June 2016

Countryside DaysThe Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s popular Countryside Days are always over-subscribed with coach loads of primary school pupils making the most of opportunities to get close to the animals and learn about farming and the countryside. As ever, this year’s line up of workshops for the children cover a wide range of traditional crafts and skills, including bushcraft, rug making, cooking and dry stone walling. East of England Food and Farming - 1st July 2016

East of England Kids FoodA fun learning experience for children. The East of England showground are passionate about educating children about food, farming, animals and the countryside. Events at the showground always attract a tremendous amount of support from schools and this will be no different. With everything from working dogs to farm machinery there is an action packed programme that will be a challenge for children and teachers alike to have a go at all on offer in the space of a school day. Connect with the Countryside South of England Showground - 14th July 2016

Connect with the CountrysideConnect with the Countryside offers schoolchildren an engaging and interactive opportunity to learn all about food, farming, the countryside and the environment. The many ‘hands-on’ activities support the National Curriculum and will help pupils find out about food production and the countryside. Countryside Live Lee Valley, 21st September 2016

Countryside LiveHeld at Lee Valley Regional Park, this is always a well-attended and popular event with over 3000 primary children from the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Havering, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest, visiting the schools days, with their teachers. Almost 40 organisations exhibit and for the fourth year, Lee Valley Regional Park Authority will be opening the event up to the public on the following weekend.

Farm Wise, Devon - 11th October 2016

A fun event for children to find out more about farming in Devon and learn where their food comes from first hand, where they can touch, feel and even smell how farms work!
