The British Asian Trust and The Sharma Foundation are proud to present Mumbai Unlocked, a unique education project that teaches children living in the UK about urban poverty in Mumbai and the challenges faced by the children who live within its slum communities. Mumbai Unlocked explores their resilience and courage with the aim of sharing core life skills such as grit, determination, empathy and resilience. It also introduces the idea of philanthropy to the younger generation and instils a sense of personal responsibility.
Our colourful range of cross curricular and interactive lessons are based on the lives of real children and our activities enable simulation of the circumstances and conditions faced by children in the slums of Mumbai, whilst exploring resourcefulness, budget management, innovation, creativity and teamwork.
Primary schools across the UK are enjoying using the materials, so please visit our website for more information and to access the lesson material too!
