One entry per teacher, multiple entries from the same school are welcomed and will be sent together regardless of when the teachers register.

In partnership with McCreight Potatoes Ltd from Co Down we were able to supply free potato growing kits to primary schools across Northern Ireland in a pilot scheme in 2024. This was a resounding success and we are delighted to say that this has now been extended and is a permanent fixture in our GYOP project. Read more about this partnership.
Your pack will contain all the information that our usual kits have, with the exception that the potato varieties will be different.
Registration will only be allowed from official primary school emails. This will be checked against a database. Sadly we cannot accept registration from home schools, secondary schools, youth groups, adult learning groups or any other body.
What is included in the GYOP pack?
Each pack will have 7 seed potatoes. You will plant 6 and use the remaining one for our great experiment. The pack will have a theme (pictured here are the resources from 2025).
You will need a container, soil and optional gardening gloves for the children.

Criteria for registering with Grow Your Own Potatoes for Northern Ireland

A Primary or Nursery Teacher in Northern Ireland with:
- An official School Email
- A willingness to learn about how to Grow Your Own Potatoes
- A curious class
- A commitment to provide feedback after the project
NO
- Secondary Teacher or Home Educator
- Child Minder
- Personal Email
- Youth group such as Scouts
- Adult learning
- Private individual

Emails will be checked against a database and your entry will not be allowed if it does not match. If this is in error, please contact us using the form under the registration form. - Only one kit will be issued per class. A school may apply for more kits but each teacher is required to apply. Kits will be sent out together.

Please note that if you would like to enter our fun free competition you need to do a separate entry for that. Entries open after harvest.
You could run small competitions throughout the project such as the best idea for a container. We would love to see your ideas on our social media.
