Grow Your Own Potatoes

NEW Sponsor Partnership Information

Become a GYOP Sponsor and join other companies across the UK.  We are currently looking for companies across the industry to help support the GYOP project going forward. With very little input you can make a massive difference to the way children view potatoes, which will stay with them as they grow.

Sadly as a result of the recent potato ballot, funding for this one-of-a-kind programme came to an end. Potato House have agreed, on behalf of the industry, to give GYOP a home and to help get it to the next level. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO THIS.

Why bother to become a GYOP Sponsor?

Because if we don't nobody will and we need the next generation to eat potatoes!

Research shows that younger consumers are becoming disconnected with where their food comes from and the field to fork process.

Alongside this, parents are replacing potato dishes with rice and pasta, as they are perceived to be more convenient, resulting in children eating fewer potato dishes than generations before them.

We need to make a difference to the way children view food at a young age and help shape eating habits that will stay with them as they grow.

Influencing the diet and purchasing habits of the consumers of the future will result in higher or sustained demand for potatoes and potato products.

Become a GYOP Sponsor -  What we need.

For every £1,000 of funding we receive we can send out 130 potato growing kits to schools. By working in partnership and getting as many companies as possible involved, we can spread the cost and still reach our target of 15,000 kits distributed.

Sponsorship does not need to come from the potato industry, or be potatoes!  We also need monetary help with purchasing mail bags, print material, web hosting, and other incidentals as well as the obvious postage costs.

Reasons to be involved.

The aim of the partnership is to raise funds collectively across the potato industry, to enable the project to continue and maintain the levels of engagement in schools as previously achieved. To do this we are inviting stakeholders from across industry to be involved, therefore reducing the amount of funding required individually, while maintaining reach and impact in primary schools nationwide.

We are absolutely delighted to have won a prestigious award after only operating in the current format for such a short space of time.
