Grow Your Own Potatoes Kits

Be one of the first to register for 2025 (excluding NI at the moment - we need to evaluate the 2024 pilot scheme)Β

Register for GYOP 2025 NOW! Registration is open to Primary Schools in England, Scotland and Wales. We hope to have Northern Ireland included for 2025

Registration will only be allowed from official primary school emails.Β  This will be checked against a database.Β  Sadly we cannot accept registration from home schools, secondary schools, youth groups, adult learning groups or any other body.Β  However we do have kits for sale.Β  See here for more information if your group is not a primary school.

What is included in the GYOP24 pack?

Each pack will have 7 seed potatoes.Β  You will plant 6 and use the remaining one for our great experiment.Β

You will need a container, soil and optional gardening gloves for the children.

Full instructions are included and you will be able to refer to our huge resource bank here. You will also receive timely email updates throughout the project.

Please visit our sponsor page to learn more about the companies who have made GYOP 24 possible.Β Β

2024 is the 80th anniversary of D-Day and we have gone retro to commemorate this occasion.Β  Potato Pete is here to help your class lean about WWII and potatoes.

Not sure about this project?

The project comes with lots of resources and information.Β  If you are not sure about it, we go over the huge benefits to the pupils on this page.

Criteria for registering with Grow Your Own Potatoes

YES

A Primary School Teacher in England, Scotland or Wales with:

NO

  • Grow Your Own Potatoes | Potato House Emails will be checked against a database and your entry will not be allowed if it does not match. If this is in error, please contact us using the form under the registration form.
  • Grow Your Own Potatoes | Potato House Sadly due to Brexit we had been unable to send seed potatoes to Northern Ireland. We had a pilot scheme in 2024 as we secured sponsorship from a seed potato company there. We need to evaluate this and are hopeful this will extend for 2025. See our NI Page for more details
  • Grow Your Own Potatoes | Potato House Only one kit will be issued per class. A school may apply for more kits but each teacher is required to apply. Kits will be sent out together.
  • Grow Your Own Potatoes | Potato House Please see here for more information if you are not a Primary School Teacher

Sorry, registrations have closed for Grow Your Own Potatoes for 2024.Β  You can be one of the first to register for 2025.

We cannot consider any late entries, even if it is "just by a day or two" as the packs are being processed and labels generated.Β  Adding any extra at this point creates an incredible amount of work, whether that is for one, 20 or 100 extra packs.Β  Please don't email or call to ask!

If you have missed out on a free set please consider buying one and you can still follow the experiments of GYOP if you also sign up for our newsletters.

Thank you for your interest in GYOP.

Are you from Northern Ireland? Please see the NI page for more information

We are delighted to have secured sponsorship for a pilot scheme for 2024 and are hopeful that this will extend for 2025.Β  See our NI page for more information.Β
