We extend our sincere gratitude and

Thanks to our 2024 Sponsors!

Their generous sponsorship of GYOP allows us to send 6,000 free kits to schools across the UK

As we embark on another exciting year for the Grow Your Own Potatoes (GYOP) initiative, we are thrilled to announce our lineup of esteemed sponsors who have joined us in our mission to bring the joys of potato growing to schools across the nation. With heartfelt gratitude to our long-standing supporters, McCain Foods, Branston, E Park, Puffin Produce, BPTA, and Potato House for their unwavering commitment, we are poised to achieve even greater success in 2024.

We are delighted to welcome new sponsors this year, who share our vision for empowering young learners. PepsiCo, Edina Trust, Albert Bartletts, AKP, Cockerill, PBGA, and GB Potatoes have generously come on board, enhancing our ability to reach even more schools. Together with our existing sponsors, we are determined to reach our goal of distributing 8,000 potato growing kits to primary schools nationwide.

Additionally, we extend our appreciation to Cygnet PB and IPM, who are not only sponsoring GYOP again in 2024, but are also providing vital seed potatoes for schools to cultivate. Their continued involvement underscores their dedication to our mission and the education of future consumers.

Thanks to the collective commitment and generosity of our sponsors, GYOP is seeing a steady growth year on year, and this year more than 240,000 primary school children will benefit from taking part.

2024 also marks a significant milestone for the GYOP initiative as we expand our reach even further. Despite previous limitations preventing participation, we are thrilled to announce the launch of a pilot project into schools across Northern Ireland. In partnership with McCreight Potatoes in Northern Ireland and with generous sponsorship from New World Products, 2024 sees us extending our offering UK-wide. This pilot project in NI lays the groundwork for a broader rollout in 2025, allowing us to bring the benefits of GYOP to even more puplis nationwide.

We express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of our sponsors for their invaluable contribution, which continues to make GYOP a beacon of growth and opportunity for young learners nationwide.

There is still time to get involved for 2024 as we seek prizes for schools in the summer.

Casablanca was named after the musical and film as many Cygnet PB varieties are, such as our most recent success Kingsman. There’s around 200 hectares of Casablanca grown in GB, mostly in the early areas such as Ayrshire in Scotland and Comber in Ireland. In these areas there is a preference for the fluffier types of early potato which Casablanca produces.
